In a move designed to offer consumers greater protection, the government of Alberta, Canada has introduced new laws regarding the regulation of timeshare, reports the Calgary Herald. The move comes as Canada is witnessing a surge in popularity of fractional ownership real estate at the expense of timeshare.
From November 2010, anybody selling timeshare will be required to obtain a license from the provincial government and to clearly disclose their terms and conditions, said Service Alberta Minister Heather Klimchuk.
